October17th: I really just don't submit the good stuff. I really don't. Maybe cuz I feel like none of my good stuff is finished or something anyone else would want to see. Or maybe I'm just stingy.

...I should really work on my website, that's what.

-----

Original August entry...

Okay. I just got through emptying my deviantART message box of 400+ comments, +favs, and +watches. There were things in there from 2004! BAD KATE! I tried to respond to all (non-vapid) comments from now back through mid 2006, respond to all watches since the start of 2006 (that weren't dead accounts by now), and respond to anyone who either both +fav'd and +watched at the same time, or +fav'd multiple things in one go since the start of 2006.

...I should NEVER let that happen again. Holy cannoli, Batman.

I still need to go through my gallery and fix a lot of captions/descriptions, and I scrapped a lot of stuff. Though, lot of good that does, since dA now has a glitch that marks post-submission scrapped deviations as part of your main gallery instead of your scrap bin. Grrrr.

The other thing I need to get better about, obviously, is submitting stuff. Goodness gracious but I'm bad about that! I suppose part of the issue is that I want my gallery to be more representative of me, and if I submitted everything I do, it wouldn't be. On the other hand, the things that ARE representative of me tend to be either things I'm not comfortable sharing, things I feel are incomplete, or things I feel could be improved upon.

I suppose I could submit my scribbles and such as scraps, or spam my own gallery with character reference sheets (which, no, I don't feel represent me very well). I don't know. Any thoughts anyone?

AND NOW I LEAVE YOU WITH LINKING...
---------------------------------

:iconmxfitforge: -- Mel is a superb artist! You're almost guaranteed to find something to love in her gallery. She's been going to an art-oriented school lately and doing fantastic, and I'm so proud of her. Cheers, sug!

:iconravekitten: -- Kat. K@. Hehe. Kat might not have much to show off in her gallery, but I assure you she's got a lot to show. Her webcam is updated now and then with cynically humorous outtakes of WWII-era images, a series called "why the 40's owned". Plus, Kat's generally a grand ol' gal in terms of friendly and fun and good to know.

:iconlupinsansei: -- Tamara is currently in transition, but heavens above, I love her and couldn't go without sharing that  here. Tambooooooooooooooooooo! XD My favorite partner in crime these days, who has helped me regain a lot of the old creativity and productivity I thought I might have lost for good.

:iconbrianne333: -- Brianne is a freaktabulous artist as well, and she does commissions time to time that are totally worth your moolah! Also one of my sweeties, and a remarkable person whom I continually find new reasons to respect and adore. Also, the person I heartily blame for the fact that Unavisi inundate my addiction-scratching art...

Velut Luna -- The website for the Matihao Whenua group, their art and projects, and who knows what else to come! I designed the layout some time ago and have been hosting them for a while (I recently moved the darlings to my new domain). I adore these girls, the Matihao Whenua and all things related, and you really should check it out! Velut Luna belongs to MxfitForge , ravekitten , Ren52, and brianne333

I recommend :iconmajnouna: for a collection of great tutorials on various subjects. Her "Artist's Guide to Human Types" series has been featured as a DD before, I think, and is truly helpful! Also check out the addendum to that series, as well as her guide to human expressions, guide to the human body, an express guide to the human body, a couple guides to drawing animals, a series on birds, how to draw arabesque elements, colour theory in a nutshell, a tutorial on drawing asian dragons, and you can bet she'll make more in time to come! If you find the tutorials helpful, there are frequently giant prints of them available, or you can just buy the book collection of them! I will also mention that Joumana is simply a very nice person and I enjoy watching her endeavors and talking to her from time to time.

RANDOM JUNK FOR THIS UPDATE

The RGB Color Calculator - HTML Color HEX Code Generator -- This has been one of my most faithful and favorite toys for several years now. Basically, it's a fast and easy way to find web-safe/happy color codes. You can play with the calculator by clicking the RGB (red/green/blue) or HSV (hue/saturation/value) buttons, or you can just click "SAMPLES" and run your cursor over examples of many colors, click one, and get the code. Useful for when you're coding html junk!

Wildcast -- Kim Wolhuter is a dedicated filmmaker working in Africa to document the wildlife that has enchanted us for so long. Here he shares video, commentary, and near daily information on the wilderness and animals he lives among, chronicling lives he follows often from start to finish. There is remarkable and gorgeous and even heartbreaking footage here, and Kim invites you to see it all and interact with him. Free.

I Want One Of Those! -- Dangerous to visit if you're prone to the concept of its title. Ohhhh man. Yup.
