Sooo...today's the 30th. That means that some of my friends are already on the last day of 2007 (they live in places like Australia and New Zealand), those crazy futuristic kids! A new year is coming. Wooooo. Now, normally I don't do new year's resolutions because...well...why? I set goals every day, and every day I do what I can to accomplish those goals. Why do I have to come up with really good ones at the start of a year? BAH.
But incidentally, I'm coming into a part of my life in terms of growth where I just HAPPEN to feel like setting some big goals for myself. I don't expect to accomplish all of them in the coming year, or in two years even. It'd be great if I did! But no holding my breath or binding my soul to the idea that it MUST be done in 2008. Still, I thought I'd list them here to bully myself a bit into keeping motivated!
For Art...
1) Finish a big piece of art that is worthy of making prints of.
2) Do more backgrounds.
3) Attempt more action illustrations with characters.
4) Attempt a short sequential of some sort.
For Life...
1) Consider joining a club of some sort. Art, or something.
2) Find an apartment in Denver.
3) Find a job easily commuted to from said apartment.
4) Put myself out there. Stop letting the past keep me back.
For Every Day...
1) Schedule classwork and leisure as diligently as I have other things.
2) Remember to recognize things to be grateful for.
3) Say a kind word to a stranger.
4) Stay happy.

Weekly Private Exchange Feature
I'm a proud member of Private Exchange, run by Brianne Goetz brianne333 . Unfortunately, I'm a highly distractable member as well. To counteract the sincere Lame of that, I will be featuring an artwork by a PE member, done for PE, in this little spot each week.
This week's featured PE art!

These are acrylic paintings. ja5on is a superb example of a hyperrealism painting, but there's not just straight realistic depiction to his paintings. There is a liquidity to his work. Go full view everything in his gallery and see what I mean.

Switching dA accounts! New name: kerosenekate...
Moving to: ~kerosenekate (https://www.deviantart.com/kerosenekate)
Hey guys. I've made the decision, after 8 years and a lot of hemming and hawing, to change my dA account. I didn't want to do it, wanted to keep this account for how hard I've worked on building my rep through it and a history of activity.
But, well, I finally bucked up and made the change. I'd complained for years about how I wished I hadn't chosen "dreor" as my username, but did not want to give up the account's years and years of activity and the following I'd worked to build. Unfortunately, sometimes it's just necessary to face the cons over the pros.
Switching accounts to kerosenekate (https://www.deviantart.com/kerosenekate) will afford me
COMMISSIONS OPEN!
Commissions are open!
Though I am not as active as I once was on dA, I am still here in some capacity. And for the first time, I'm opening up commissions to the general public here at dA! My computer recently went kablooey, so I am having to get together money very quickly to buy a new one since I'm still in college classes as a digital arts student...so I sort of NEED to have a good computer to do my assignments and work on, obviously.
OPTIONS FOR COMMISSIONS
:bulletorange: Option A: $100 for 2 characters, full body, full color w/background

:bulletorange: Option B: $75 for 1 character, f
Recommended commissionable artists...
Looking for people to commission for good art? Try these people!
~brianne333 (https://www.deviantart.com/brianne333) - Gorgeous art and is currently desperately in need of money. Affordable prices! Please at least see her journal and spread the word if you have a minute.
:iconphoenixelement: - Very clean, quick, and talented! Recently moved to a new city and is still looking for work and starting to feel desperate about the jobhunt, so the income from commissions is helpful.
:iconhoboriss: - Great artist capable of lovely painting, quirky character style, and more. College students always need money!

Four pieces of what's up...
Here's a quick update on things at the moment!
1) dA's "subscription aggression" seems to have eased off. At least, enough that it's not constantly pissing me off as stated in that previous journal entry. Hoorah for that.
2) I just deleted probably nearly 100 things from my gallery and scraps. Most of them were from 2003 or 2004, but there were some others that I nixed as well. It was just time. They were old and no longer represented my skills or tendencies as an artist. Some if it was gift art for Mel or Ren or Brianne or my sis. I doubt you do, but if you guys want copies I have them somewhere.
3) Spring semester for the year at college

Those are all great goals I really need to set some for myself. I am at a point myself were I think I feel like I have give up on certain things and I really shouldn't you know? So thanks for posting this, cause it makes myself think.
